While slicing some vegetables for dinner, I remembered a chat with a waitress. I told her about my heart attack (because I don't order the usual double espressos anymore). That's when she told me a bit about her life:
This young lady, probably in her mid-twenties, has a special case of arthritis. You would not know unless she told you. But some doctors think she might be in a wheelchair at the age of 30. - I am very thankful to her for being so honest and straightforward. She made me acutely realize once more:
No one day, no minute, no second is ever coming back.
No, I do not think that I will die very soon. But it is a lot more possible now than it used to be. It is also possible that I get hit again and loose some of my newfound stamina forever.
Lord, let me NOT live in fear, NOT in passivity, NOT as anybody's slave but in unbridled joy that I am alive, kicking and free to choose how I go about my days!
